The KHOUMIRIE bearing the name of the Khoumirs tribe in which it dwelt, is a marvellous area delimited in the South by the valley of Medjerda and in the North by the sea between the opulent centres of Béjà , Ain Soltane, Bella Régia, Feidja (National Parc)- Chemtou at the one hand and by Tabarka with its nice beaches at the other hand and whose natural centre is the summer station of Ain Draham.

for for those who know it, the Khoumirie (Northwest of Tunisia), far from the holidays stereotypes, offers you the richness, the variety and the originality of its landscapes, Sea, Mountain, Forests, Roman vestiges, constitute an exceptional palette of colours offering a real change of scenery.
The programme is constituted of walking and horseriding, mountain bike, trips to the historical sites and evenings round a chimney.
Across tracks and paths, from Ain Draham you will discover on horseback, on foot or on mountain bike, the fabulous landscapes of mountains covered with cork oak or bare, and the plain of Oued Medjerda with the Roman vestiges of Chemtou and Bulla Regia.
For walkers as well as for horse- riders and mountain bikes, numerous waymarked circuits are at your disposal, combining different itineraries, programmes of 3 to 7 horses, on foot and on mountain bike, supervised by the specialized guides native to the country, to penetrate into the depth of the cork oak forest will be, for the eye, an unequalled delight.

You will live in a hotel or under Bedouin or Berber tents.

The traveller who is in a hurry and who would neglect to include in his itinerary – Ain Draham and Tabarka would be deprived of a rare delight, and would carry with him only an incomplete vision of this Tunisian earth and of the astonishing contrasts from which it presents the less known aspects and, nevertheless the most typical.

The Circuits
550 km of waymarked and fully-equipped circuits are proposed to you to gallop on the beach , trot in the narrow paths on the hillsides, or at the bank of torrent, follow the forest paths that separate the ploughed fields, stop in the douars and have a chat with the inhabitants near the water springs, appreciate the richness of the fauna and flora and discover on foot (Bulla Régia) or on horseback (Chemtou) the trace of other civilizations.

An inexhaustible programme! From a day to 2 weeks, all combinations are possible. Competent and experimented, masters, hiking guides, or local guides show you the way and make your contact with the population easy. It’s on horseback, barbs and Anglo- barbs that you will share with your friends the happiness of exploring a wild nature, discovering this country that holds you the reins of the best horses. A little city sitting at the seaside, between the picturesque rocks among which a little fishing port that has become since few years, a famous seaside resort.

A marina, beaches, creeks and coralline reserves that impress the most demanding divers, a gulf with 18 holes, one of the most beautiful Mediterranean basin, comfortable hotels and typical restaurants make out of Tabarka a valued destination. And it will be more valued, now that the hiking , horseriding and mountain bike paths are made available to the amateurs.
