AIN DRAHAM
|
The city, backing on to the mountain of Djebel Bir whose summit is 1,210 meters high, is built on a 800 meters- high plateau .
In the middle of the forest, we find near the Oued El Kebir sulphurous sources which gush out from the soil at a 50° temperature. These sources were well-known by the Romans who used to make much of them as shown by the ruins of the thermae which are still existent; all this is witnessed by the cemented brick walls, the vaulted arcs, the pillars with ornamented chapiters, the reddish wreckages overrun with greenery which shows the exact location of the old buildings. AIN DRAHAM is the very symbol of life among nature. Wild fauna and flora are very abundant there. Its invigorating air is beneficial for blood circulation. AIN DRAHAM does not need any presentation, it is very unique in Tunisia. AIN DRAHAM is a very beautiful village 800 meters high where the clouds stroke the red roofing tiles of white houses, deep-set in greenery. AIN DRAHAM is a place where we disappear among the impalpable shapes, lost in the icy mist hanging from the summits, you can hear the crunching of snow under your steps and admire the forest of cork oak which mount an onslaught on all the surrounding summits. On the way to the south, Bulla Régia, the antique city with its hunting house, the great thermal baths, the house of Apollo and Isis… AIN DRAHAM is also a fitness training centre for top-level sportsmen equipped with state-of-the-art sports facilities. |
